Most commonly, Advent is represented by a dark purple color. However, in some churches - particularly in many Lutheran, Methodist, and Anglican churches - it is represented by the color blue. Symbols such as Advent candles or pine branches and pinecones are particular to the season. On the Third Sunday in Advent, called Gaudete Sunday, it is traditional to wear rose-colored garments. As liturgical colors sometimes vary between churches and denominations, we urge you to check with your church or diocese to ensure that you are selecting the appropriate choice.
